Very very very very very interesting

After watching USA men soccer being murdered and ripped by Russia 6-0, my friends and I went out to a lunch.  I made a suggestion that we go to this restaurant, which I found out from seeing pics on the net few years ago.   The restaurant is called Modern Toilet Restaurant.  Here are some photos from the experience. Like the title of this blog said,  it definelty was.

those deserts are some sweets and a scoop of ice cream on a big pile of shaved ice.
he is just a poophead.  Just joking.

After a long-endless lunch, some of us went back to check out the bowling events.  The place have bowling lanes on two floors as the rest of the floors in the building are motel rooms.  Later in the evening, I went out with Charlie and some of his coworkers (athletic trainers) to Taipei 101 as it was my second trip to go to top level.  This time, I got to view the scenery at night, which was beautiful with all the lights.

Yea it is that high when we were on the 89 floors of Taipei 101.

Another day at Taipei...

Just finally got back here to rest in my hotel room besides just sleeping here at night. My friends (Chuck, Bruce and Barbara) and I went to watch the men's soccer game - USA vs Great Britain. What a game! First of all, USA men soccer team had to win that game, in order to get in the semi-finals. So, they did as the score was 4 to 1.

Women's soccer team will play on Wednesday, but will get a forfeit as their opponents didn’t attend the Olympics this summer. So, they have to attend the game and stand up in the field with their uniforms as the referees can witness their presence and declare their win by a forfeit. Here are some pictures of my good friend, Allison from Monday's game.

After watching Men's soccer game, we went out to find some places for lunch. We happened to find this unique place, Witch Tales, which look like an English-pub themed. One thing that is cool about that place is that some chairs do have bras hanged on it. You will see in those following photos.

Bruce and Barbara Galoob (Allison's parents) and Chuck Baird.  Yea, Chuck is the world renowned painter, who is deaf.  Not a deaf painter, that is his belief. :)
yea those are bras on the chairs...
This drink is called Dragonnipples Tea.

As for tonight, I will attend USA Men's basketball game as they are playing against their good competitor, Israel. I might go out to night market or something later tonight, as I just go with the flow with my friends. Here are some random photos.

Opening Ceremony was awesome...

Last friday, I went to Deaflympic Opening Ceremony. It is much more than what I expected, which is actually a professional halftime sport show-like. They had a huge Japanese drum team (about 80 people) performing along with the world renowned deaf female drummer, Evelyn Glennie. It was an amazing performance. Then, we had different acts of performance related to ocean and rice fields in their culture. Overall, it was so amazing with about 9,000 volunteers along with firework shows. Here are some pictures of the show.

Fire Accident from the firework display!!
There were so many staffs trying to put out the fire. I was worried little when I saw all taiwanese freaking out about the fire as I don't want to deal with a stampede! lol It was all good when it was put out.

the rice fields...

Yesterday, after watching the event of cycling, my friends and I decided to go to Taipei 101 for lunch. One thing that is funny about my lunch is that when I ordered a beer, I didn’t expect to get a mini-size can (135ml). You will see it in the photo. After lunch, we went up to the top floor in Taipei 101, which is the world tallest building as of now (Dubai is scheduled to complete their tallest building this fall/winter to capture the title). One thing that I didn’t realize is that their elevator is the world's fastest one. It went to floor 5 to floor 89 in 36 seconds (top speed is 1100 meters per minute). I could feel my ears popping for few seconds once we are close to the top. If you have gone to Sears Tower or Empire State Building, then I would highly recommend you to visit Taipei 101 to ride the elevator. Beside that, they do have a giant yellow ball inside the building which is a wind damper as it helps with the building being stable from all strong winds. After spending time to go around the mall under Taipei 101, we went out to eat at a Vietnamese restaurant at another mall. It was just nice and simple. Now my friends and I are tired as hell from all the walking around. We are going to look at more sport events today as I will take more pictures.

this has to be the world's smallest beer can...
It is official!  I just bought this grocery store business and changed the name to Jason's. :)
Those two photos are of the food court area as they have beautiful interior architecture design/foundation.
It say it all...
This was taken on outdoor observatory floor..
Can you imagine this is from 89 floor as I'm looking down to 1st floor?  can you really see the 1st floor there? I couldn't even see it when I looked down there in person.  The security guard got really nervous when I was joking about dropping a coin down there.  so tempting...
This is the wind damper that I was speaking of.  660 metric tons!!!
my ticket for riding up to the observatory...
